The Barre is Reducing its Carbon Footprint and Here’s How…

We have been working on a project to reduce our plastic and energy usage in order to contribute towards reducing our carbon footprint and play our part in improving the future.

We have looked carefully into where we can make big differences within the business and are really pleased to reveal to you where we are up to!

PLASTIC

As a manufacturer, we store and post out our barres and products to our customers. This has involved a fair bit of plastic packaging in the past. However, we are really pleased to tell you that so far in our efforts, we have reduced our plastic packaging on our products by 50%. This is a massive reduction and we are sure that as time goes on and we find better, more eco-friendly options, that this percentage reduction will increase further!

LIGHTING

In our offices and storage facility, we have replaced all of our lighting with new, low energy LED lighting. This significantly reduced our company energy output but means we can still see what we are doing. Plus, although the initial cost to a business can be higher by replacing these bulbs, in the long-run, running costs reduce too so this one is a win-win!

PAPERLESS SYSTEMS

In a continued effort to play our part in reducing our carbon footprint, we have recently introduced and are currently implementing new online systems which will reduce our paper usage considerably once the systems are fully rolled out over the next few weeks. We are looking forward to being able to put a number on the percentage reduction very soon.

SOURCING OUR WOOD

This question is asked every now and then by our customers;

“Is your wood sustainable?”

Well, the simple answer is “YES”. All the wood that we source and use to make our beautiful Classic Range is PEFC approved. Our suppliers work hard to make sure that they only source sustainable wood, therefore we can be proud to pass that onto our customers through our products!

If you are unsure what PEFC is or what it means to you, then you can take a look here on the PEFC website which gives a good explanation.

As you can see, we have started making real strides in the improvement of our business and products to reduce our own carbon footprint. And although we may still have some way to go, every journey starts with the first step, and we believe we are already a few steps in.

  • What small differences can you make as an individual or business to contribute towards the global efforts?
  • How can we all create a better future together?

Customer Feedback
I have used Peter multiple times for supplying barres at our studio and we always receive fantastic products and exceptional customer service. Most recently he helped me with a time sensitive order and he went over and beyond to make sure everything came in on time. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him and his team. Many thanks Kind Regards Katie Geddes (Leeds)
